Obama vs Romney: You have a choice.

May I take a moment and speak to you heart to heart? This is not about business or internet marketing or anything I normally post about but about something I deeply care about. I am not here to repeat things you have heard before nor to make you feel stupid for your choices. I actually don’t want any responses to this post, either in support or contrary. I just want you to see how I feel about what I see going on in our county today without all the noise and emotion, the lies and the drama. Some of these things may be obvious to you, others may not when thinking about voting for Obama vs Romney.
We all have had different experiences that shape who we are and how we think. These are hard to overcome and made even more difficult to reason with when we are told things from a slanted perspective about a political candidate. Anyone who reports the news has a vested interest in having you read it. There was a time when the News was considered a valued resource to our country and the Founders thought it so important as to put that freedom among the first of the rights we can live by and support.
I am sorry to report that I don’t have a lot of trust anymore in any regular news source whether on the right or the left because there is so much competition in this industry today that their goal is only to make things controversial and gain attention, and not necessarily report the truth of the subject or to hold our politicians accountable for their actions. In many cases they are on the same side now and that is a dangerous situation. They have become so slanted in their views because they need to make money and their industry has dramatically changed because of the Internet in our technological world.
I am a Constitutionalist and have studied this subject and it’s history quite a bit. The Constitution is a powerful document and needs to be respected for what it is. It needs to be considered in every decision our leaders make. Many decisions made in the past 100 years have not followed its outline resulting in many of the problems we face today. Please read it again to refresh yourself with its wonderful words that needs to be followed. Please only promote and vote for candidates that follow its teachings, otherwise we are not living according to the dream they created for us and are following all those other countries throughout history that don’t have the same mission or future that America had when it started.
Human nature has many quirks that cannot be denied but must be taken into account in any legislation. Any government is better than no government but there is a fine line between what constitutes the right amount of control over the masses and how much freedom must be given in order to sustain it. Our founding fathers viewed Left and Right entirely different than we do today. For them, Left was Tyranny and Right was Total Freedom.
Neither of these are desirable and have severe consequences if followed to an extreme. The Founders had lived under severe tyranny and knew that was not the answer. They had also experienced total freedom once they got here to the new land and found the problems associated with that too. They had a totally unique perspective and wanted to create a government that was balanced between these two polar opposites with a slight advantage toward the freedom side. Every attempt at going toward tyranny had disastrous results and stifled the innovation, motivation and expansion of growth and prosperity.
They also had a tremendous fear of power because they had seen what happened under an efficient and powerful government that made laws at will and executed them with rifle-like speed like, trampling on the rights of the people to exert its authority. This resulted in the original Tea Party. Our founders constructed a government that placed the awesome power of its elected leaders in 3 distinct branches with equal responsibility and a system of checks and balances to keep things at bay, with each branch having power over the others to keep things in order. Efficiency was not something our founders wanted as they had had enough with efficiency. They wanted things to act slowly and in accordance to laws and the rights of the people.
We now have 2 people vying for your vote this next November. Both of these men come from very different backgrounds and their teachings and beliefs growing up need to be considered because it makes up who they are.
The difference could not be starker between Obama vs Romney.
Mitt Romney was not my first choice as the Republican nominee even though he is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints as I am. I know what he has been taught and did not feel that he had lived up to those teachings. Harry Reid is a perfect example of someone who has been taught the same things and even says he still believes them, but then somehow has no conscience whatsoever to go against those teachings if it means he can gain something politically for doing so. The last thing I wanted was to have another such individual as President of the United States.
I have come to realize that I am also a product of the Media and had believed several things told about him that were not true in order to tarnish his image and create the exact reaction to having him be such a candidate. I had been deceived and I didn’t even realize it. The Media had purposely deceived me and had done their best to tarnish his image. Any discussion about his past as Governor has been slanted towards the views that the reporter has decided he wanted us to see. The fact is he was popular as a governor and his tenure at the 2002 Olympics is one of the best examples in recent history of someone who did something profound and did it all without pay. Salt Lake City is still benefiting from that work.
Mitt Romney’s success at Bain Capital has been so maligned as be rather humorous. Anyone who has been in business and taken even a cursory glance at its history should be impressed. While no business is guaranteed success, they had a tremendous ratio of successes. They came into troubled companies and put in money and time to try and bring it back to life. There are hard decisions to be made and it was not easy, but the alternative is that the business will cease to exist and everyone will be out of a job.
I know what it is like to start and run a business. I know what it is like to make the hard decisions. I know what it is like to lose that business and looking back I realize the mistakes I made. To have the success ratio of Bain Capital is astounding! I wish I knew them when I was in trouble because they may have helped me save my business.
The latest tactics in the Obama vs Romney episode has been to attack his Tax Returns and they have even gone so far as to make the outrageous claim that, “he never paid taxes” even though they have no proof of it whatsoever and only site some unnamed source. Thanks again to Harry Reid, who has again revealed the type of person he really is. I am embarrassed to say he is from my home state and apologize to everyone I see that somehow he got elected by the good people of Nevada thinking he would do them some good. He hasn’t.
Do you really think for one minute that Mitt Romney didn’t pay taxes? Do you think that is even possible for someone making the money he did? The IRS most likely audited him several times over the years, after all, he was a cash cow to them and they wanted that money. There is no way in the world he could have gotten away with anything even close to illegal as he would have been watched like the proverbial hawk over its prey. Every bank account he had, inside the US and out, would have been revealed in those annual submissions. There are reasons for having overseas accounts because international businesses sometimes require them. There are other reasons but I don’t know all the details, all I know is that this attack is not fair and from someone (or some group) that wants to make everything “fair” they are not treating him fair at all.
And even if Romney didn’t pay any taxes, he did it all legally! He followed the rules set up by Congress that gave capitalists the incentives to build businesses and buy equipment. There isn’t anything illegal going on here!
This brings up another subject that is not related to Mitt Romney paying or not paying taxes. Our laws have become incredibly corrupt in our country. We have way too many ways to squash business and yet the astounding thing is that we are about to get squashed like never before with the penalties and costs of Obamacare just around the corner. Soon after the election, the pain of this regulation will hit business with a stifling force that is worse than any tyranny ever faced by our Founders. Any analogy I use is useless in trying to convey the weight of its regulations. I keep hearing and seeing the idea that Obamacare will finally make things equal and fair for all Americans, yet nothing could be further from the truth. Shortages are already starting to be noticed and there is a real risk we will lose a large percentage of doctors and nurses because Obamacare will have removed all incentive to do better and take away the profit motive.
Remember that notion I mentioned earlier about human nature? Unless we can make a profit, we will not be motivated to do our best. It’s human nature to plan for our future, to create and plan for the time when we get old and can’t work as we wish. There is great motivation in making a profit and that is why we have some many wonderful innovations in our world today. Those who want to take upon themselves that initiative will find another way to get there if becoming a doctor won’t work.
Is there something wrong with success? Is it wrong to make a lot of money? Why does the media love Steve Jobs and Steven Spielberg, yet decry the success of Mitt Romney and accuse him of lies regarding his taxes? There is a clear choice between Obama vs Romney on this issue!
Do you like 8.3% unemployment? This has been going on for over 3.6 years! I agree that Obama was handed a difficult situation, but he has made almost every decision wrong to try and get us out of it. The result of those decisions is that we now face the real possibility that we will never get below 8% for years and years to come. In fact, if he is elected again, we will undoubtedly face 10%, 12% and even 15% or more unemployment in the years ahead. Why do I say this and how can I prove it? What has Obama announced that is different than he has already done? What plan has he proposed to get out of this? The only thing he has said is that we need more time. That’s it? More time will only result in more and more unemployment as businesses give up on ever making money again and having to survive the hammer blow of Obamacare over the next few years.
I have to give great credit to the creators of Obamacare in how they managed to dupe the nation into accepting it and supporting it. They created a diabolical plan that gave the benefits up front and then the painful aspects of it AFTER the next election, assuming that people will be so in love with those results that they would elect Obama again and thereby assure his re-election.
When it comes to Obama vs Romney on Obamacare, that is the easiest choice of all.
Do you realize that we have not had ANY of those painful payments yet placed on businesses? Do you realize what they will do to business? They will raise costs to you the consumer. They will reduce the labor force through layoffs to pay for it. They will cause a bureaucracy over this country that has never been seen and squash all reason to try and do better. These effects are just barely starting to be seen and the first evidence of that is the poor unemployment numbers. If I had a business again with employees, I would not want to hire anyone right now. There are just too many future hurdles to face. Businesses take risks everyday but the risks today are way too big and too unknown. Its one thing to take a risk in the market. Its another thing to risk fighting the government and getting killed because of it.
There is so much negative talk about businesses today. Everyone is so angry at corporations and banks and financial institutions and this does not help things. I agree that corporations can get out of control and that is why the Founders created the system they did so they could control big businesses. But when government becomes the provider of success, enormous problems ensue. Governements are notorious for poor management and waste. Their ruthless power is best served by providing a good military to defend our country, and not run it by being the all-knowing provider of the masses.
It was put in the Constitution that one of the Fed’s main roles was to provide for the common defense. Instead they have done ALL SORTS of things that are specifically NOT IN THE CONSTITUTION! That is the real reason we are in the situation we are in today. It is doing too many things that it was not designed to do.
Let business do what it does best. Let it run and reward those who put in the risks to make it work. Only 5% of businesses succeed beyond the first 5 years. I believe that that can be greatly increased with lesser controls and regulations. They can hire way more people because business people want to make money. They want to create something that will benefit society and get rewarded for it. They want to hire more people to reach that vision they have in mind.
There is no vision in Obama’s plan. His “dream” of “fairness and equality” is nothing less than the same one of a hundred other socialists that have preceeded him. It will never work. It will only bring things to a halt and stifle all desire and competition. It will only create more of what he has already done.
We need Mitt Romney like never before.
We need a person with his experience. We need someone who can make the hard decisions and has the best interest of the country at heart. The idea that the way to make things better is to “have everyone pay their fair share” is ridiculous. We don’t have a Tax problem in this country we have a spending problem. We need to cut many government programs and reduce our debt. We need to have business comfortable again in taking risks and want to hire people without the fear of outrageous regulations and tyranny ready to jump down their throat at the next whim of someone in power. We need to get rid of these unelected “czars” and use executive privilege to what it is: a privilege and not a standard way to get around Congress. Mitt Romney has shown he can work with a Congress and Senate that is not from his same party. He knows how to do the right thing and get us back on track again.
Is he perfect? I am not so blind. Every politician needs to be scrutinized and the hypocrisy and fallacies pointed out, but what our current news people are doing is putting a blind eye on what is really happening and ignoring some rather blatant things that should be shouted from the roof tops.
I am begging you to please vote for Mitt Romney.
In the words of Princess Leia, “He is our only hope.” Otherwise I greatly fear the future of our country, as it will not survive another 4 years of Obama.
I HOPE YOU CAN SEE THAT IT IS AN EASY CHOICE BETWEEN OBAMA VS ROMNEY.
Added note 9-20-12: This is a video someone sent me of an interview with Allen West and he says it in a fantastic way. Please watch, its only 4 minutes long and worth millions. It is a perfect description of where we are heading.

Here is an update after the 2 Political Conventions this last week. and giving them all a chance to persuade us to their positions. I created a video response to it: http://youtu.be/wFWvJxzVa3I
There really is a clear difference and we need to vote for Mitt Romney or we are not going to have a country in the very near future.
